  3. Quit is a program that lets you quit Windows by double clicking its 
  4. icon or window. It can also restart Windows or, even more, reboot 
  5. your computer, giving the appropriate command from its system menu.

  16. This program may be freely copied and distributed, as long as it is 
  17. not modified in any way, and all the files it comes with are kept 
  18. together (the list of files is found in filelist.txt). Only a small 
  19. reasonable charge may be charged for copying and distribution. To 
  20. avoid multiple copies of this program proliferating on electronic 
  21. services under different names, you are encouraged to distribute it 
  22. under the name QUIT303.ZIP (or .ZOO, .ARJ, etc.).

  44. guarantee that it is bug free.

  51. # New three dimensional look for dialog boxes
  52.  
  53. Now all of the dialog boxes that Quit shows up may have a nice three 
  54. dimensional look. For this look to appear you must have the file 
  55. Ctl3Dv2.dll or Ctl3D.dll in your System directory. If Quit find one 
  56. of them it uses the 3D look for the dialog boxes, otherwise it uses 
  57. the normal look.

  60. You can find Ctl3Dv2.dll or Ctl3D.dll files in the public domain 
  61. market, but
  62. probably you already have one or both of them, because many new 
  63. programs (for example WinWord 6) use them.

  66. # How to use Quit
  67.  
  68. For using Quit simply start it when you start Windows (you may do 
  69. this putting it in the StartUp group, if your shell is the Microsoft 
  70. Program Manager).
  71. From this moment, if you double click its icon, or its window, 
  72. depending on the look option you choosed, your Windows session will 
  73. be terminated.
  74. To show the menu, click the system menu box on the upper left corner, 
  75. or click the icon only once. The menu contains the following 
  76. commands:

  78. Exit Windows
  79. The Exit Windows command causes your Windows session to end; it 
  80. has the same effect as double clicking the icon.

  82. Restart Windows
  83. The Restart Windows command causes Windows to end and restart. 
  84. However you will be prompted for saving all unsaved works.

  86. Reboot Computer
  87. The Reboot Computer command is only shown if the Enable Reboot 
  88. option has been set from the options dialog box. 
  89. This command causes your computer to reboot. However you will be 
  90. prompted for saving all unsaved works.

  93. The Help command shows the help on Quit.

  96. The About command shows a dialog box with some information about 
  97. the program.

  100. The options command pops up the Options dialog box, where you can 
  101. set up the program options.

  103. The other commands have the usual meaning of every Windows program.

  114.  
  115. Quit has only one command line option: -x or, equivalently, exit.
  116. If specified, this options causes Quit to end Windows immediatley: It 
  117. doesn't show itself as an icon you can click to end Windows, but the 
  118. exiting process is started immediatley. This option is useful to have 
  119. an icon on the program manager to click for exiting Windows, instead 
  120. to have to choose Exit Windows from the Program Manager File menu.

  123. # Options Dialog box
  124.  
  125. In the Options Dialog box you choose some configuration setting.
  126. The options in the Startup group take effect only when you restart 
  127. Quit. The others take effect immediately.
  128.  
  129. Look options:
  130. In the Look group there are three check boxes that lets you 
  131. choose the look of the program.
  132.  
  133. Enable Reboot option check box
  134. If the enable reboot check box is checked Quit shows the Reboot 
  135. Computer command in the menu.
  136. For this option to take effect you must close Quit and then 
  137. restart it. This is made to allow network administrators to 
  138. prevent users to set this option. In fact Quit checks the 
  139. quit.ini file at the start, and set the reboot option according 
  140. to that file. If the file is made read only by the network 
  141. administrator, user will never be able to modify this option. 
  142. This has been required to me by a network administrator.

  144. Confirmation on exit check box
  145. If the Confirmation on exit check box is checked Quit will ask 
  146. you for a confirmation before starting the exiting procedure.

  148. Stay always on top
  149. If the Stay always on top check box is checked, the Quit icon 
  150. will always be visible on top of all others windows on the 
  151. desktop.

  154. # Look Options
  155.  
  156. In the Look group there are three radio buttons: check one of them to 
  157. set the visual apperance of the program. The new setting do not take 
  158. effect until you close Quit and then restart it. All the 
  159. functionalities of the program remain the same, independently of its 
  160. appearance.
  161. The check boxes are:
  162.  
  163. - Icon: if this button is checked Quit looks like 
  164. a normal icon.
  165. - Small window: if this button is checked Quit 
  166. looks like a normal window that is not resizable. Its size if the 
  167. size of an icon, plus a small title bar.
  168. - Big window: if this button is checked Quit looks 
  169. like a normal sizable window, containig the program icon 
  170. surrounded by a three dimensional border.
